Chartering refers to hiring a vessel or part of a vessel to carry cargo by sea. Chartering may occur on any type and size of the vessel for any commodity, such as general cargo, specialized cargo, bulk cargo, chemicals, dangerous cargo, etc.
Under the Charter Party agreement between the shipowner and charterer, SBB USA handles voyage basis charters.
